It was a full moon when three of Asterion's bodyguards set out on a secret mission. They would hide in the undergrowth until their prey passed by.
In the forest there still rode a king, searching for a boar to kill.
And then came the moment when three minotaurs leaped from the undergrowth and immediately killed one of the riders. Another rider, at the king's command, rode to the royal castle with a message for the princes.
It was an unequal battle, with the horsemen relying on their fighting skills and the minotaurs on their brute strength.
The rider who had escaped still heard the sounds of battle in the distance. Sound travels far in the dark.
When the battle was over, the two remaining minotaurs reported to their king, bringing the three heads of the riders they had killed.
Asterion reacted angrily when he learned that a rider had escaped, and had the two minotaurs thrown into the dog pit.
Asterion uneasily delivered the bad news to Astaroth, who downplayed the problem. He would fix it.
