Soon the dragon healed and found a companion in Valdarin.

But male dragons are ambitious. And during his sleep the dragon who was called Beowulf began planting tiny little thoughts in Valdarin's head.

Thoughts about power, about being king, ruling the other Fae, and how fate was on his side.

Valdarin became the first male dragon knight. Dressed in armor he patrolled the woods, showing off his new found power, and the other Fae avoided him when possible.

The exclusion from the other Fae filled Valdarin's heart with bitternes. Beowulf jumped on the opportunity and invited Valdarin to the Fiery Lands as his new base. He also showed him the gift of fire there. Beowulf smiled internally when he felt the darkness in Valdarin's heart.

Now that he had Valdarin at his side, Beowulf no longer had to hide his jealousy of the female dragons and their bond with the other Fae. At the first opportunity he killed one of them. And he would not stop until they were all dead.
