When they arrived at the tunnel, MacDonald lit a torch and Tornassuk sat down: "I don't trust tunnels. They are too claustro for me and no way of escape." MacDonald interrupted: "C'mon Sook...this one is your way out....back to the ice, back to your old life..."
So Tornassuk went along but kept grumbling, and MacDonald had to talk into him all the way.
Until they arrived at the underground lake Hodēgós had been talking about. They stood perplex at the beauty of it and were stunned by the almost alien looking architecture and technique. They rested for a while after which MacDonald and Tornassuk said goodbye to Hodēgós.
Not much later the two old friends decided to jump into the lake. In mid air MacDonald yelled: "I can't swim." To which Tornassuk replied: "Just move your arms and legs."
With a big splash they landed into the cold water.
In the water they noticed a light and a water surface which meant a way out for Tornassuk and another room with a glimpse of something big in metal.
When Tornassuk saw MacDonald swimming or something that should look like it to the other room he went for the light. Some goodbyes did not need words.
MacDonald used his last breath to search for an entrance and was lucky to find it.
After he closed the door the water of the lock was pushed out and MacDonald stood there feeling like a dead duck.
