During his conversation with Ghuepecco the issue of powering the robot suits comes up. Both know that when the sourcing of uranium will start, the Gorgons will notice. Ghuepecco suggests to go source in the sea...under water. The chances of detection will be minimal.

So Maximilian gives the order to start the construction for sourcing under water. A couple of weeks later he is visiting the site. When he passes the submarine that brings in personnel he can see that the work is progressing fast.

Suddenly there is a stir in the water. Animals in the neighborhood seem to feel something.

And all at once they flee.

An alarm sounds and the engineers are yelling over the intercom. "Get out, now. Drop everything."

In order to lead the danger away from the extraction unit, Maximilian steers his submarine into a cave.

From within the submarine Maximilian can see a massive red octopus approaching.

Once it reaches the submarine it stops and it seems like it is watching Maximilian. Maximilian hears a voice he knows too well:"Don't provoke him, Don't attack him. And definitely don't kill him. It's an old creature. Centuries old."

Irritated by the vibrations of the uranium contraption a giant sea eel comes out of its cave and swims towards the unit.

When it notices the octopus, it turns off to the red giant.

Both creatures start a fierce fight, but the eel is no party for the octopus.

As soon as the eel realizes this, it flees away.

Wounded, but not lethally, it's taking cover in its den.

The octopus returns to the window where Maximilian is standing and keeps staring at him.

And then the creature turns away.

And moves out.

Three weeks later the unit is fully operational and accepted or ignored by the creatures of the sea. The octopus or the eel were never seen again.
