Jade II was the eldest child of Elisheba of Opal and Jean-Guillaume de Winter, Inspector General of the Northern Coasts and a Count of the Empire during the Neo era. He played a major role in the division of the Empire among Maryam and Elisheba.
In her early years Jade led a happy life, being a favorite of her mother as the future queen. She did not really get to know her father as he was one of the victims of the aging disease, and died at an early age.
Jade loved to read books, while her twin sisters liked to make fun. And even though the bond between the three was perceived as close, the two little ones liked to make jokes about Jade and her more withdrawn character.
Jade never showed it, but sometimes the behavior of her sisters hurt. Like when she was reading in the garden, and they danced around in such an exaggerated way that it felt as if they only did it to mock Jade's way of life.
In the end Jade stayed out of the gardens and retreated to her own kingdom, the library with all her beloved books.
Sometimes she also went to the small theater in town, preferably during the rehearsals when there were not that many people present.
But if Jade was anything at all, it was curious. She wanted to learn all she could. At her eighteen she went to the university of Opal. At the faculty of philosophy she learned how to debate and unravel mysteries and problems.
At the faculty of mathematics she learned about the essence of life and the universe.
And at the military faculty she learned everything about ballistics and strategy. Jade had become a young woman with a high intellect, great curiosity and above all a joie-de-vivre that was contagious for everyone she met.
