The next day, Queen Isolde went to Queen Jade to make an agreement. On two conditions. 150 volunteers were found to start a family in Opal, including Isolde's lover, Thylaris, who would also lead this group.

Isolde's first condition was that for every volunteer, she would be assigned one of the beastmen. That's 150 in all.

The second condition was that Isolde would become queen of the entire realm, including Opal. Queen Jade retained her royal title and privileges. Jade reluctantly agreed.

Then Isolde went to the Fiery Lands.

She took with her the griffin that had become her property by then, as a gift for Ariel.

Isolde wanted to form an alliance with Ariel to drive out the white giants. However, Ariel had bad news for her: the white giants weren't alien invaders. They also lived on Qenya, but underwater.

Separately, Isolde suggested to Ariel that she and her people could return to the Elves, offering her the same terms as Jade. Ariel immediately agreed.

Only Eryndor remained, his army put to the sword, the Elven forest laid waste. He himself, bewildered and mad, remained in the ruined forest like a knight-errant.
