Mac
In “Origins” Mac is the leader of the engineers from a group of emigrants who fled their planet and chemical war on that planet. He resists the Gorgons and does not accept them as Gods. Mac will become the son-in-law of Zoroaster, leader of the believers to stop the tribal wars between their peoples.
Mac will later be reborn as Maximilian van Lichtenstein and Max.

Maximilian van Lichtenstein
Pilot, resistance leader, tyrant.
Maximilian - who will be reborn as Max, and is the rebirth of Mac - leads the War for the Heavens. He is very driven and result-oriented, but walks over corpses to gets what he wants.

Max
In “An Ordinary Man” Max is an alcoholic who is divorced and desperately in need of a job. He is also the one who will bring the Original Trilogy to an end.
Max is in the Original Trilogy the same person as Mac in “Origins” and Maximilian van Lichtenstein in “War for the Heavens”. He is not immortal but gets reborn each time. He is however not aware of this.
