But in the end Beowulf and Valdarin were defeated. Once Valdarin's left arm was cut off in battle he could no longer guide Beowulf and fight at the same time, and they were both stabbed to death by Valdarin's former brothers, the dullahan.

They left dozens of violated faeries,...

...rivers of blood,....

...and faeries whose minds got so shocked by the horrors they were confronted with, that many of them chose to take their own lives.

The funeral processions were long and silent, and every pixie,...

...sprite...

...and atomy was remembered.

As well as the royal deads.

After peace and tranquility had returned Maeve, the warrior queen, summoned Vaelorin, the noble and inspiring leader of the dullahan. She told him that the dullahan were banished and that their immortality would be taken away from them. Vaelorin understood and accepted the sad future him and his brothers and sisters awaited.

So the dullahan were summoned to gather.

For some it was harder than the rest. But Mab decided to join her love and gave up her immortality too, so that she could be with him and die with him.

The decision for Mora was hard. But her beloved and troublesome pixies were no more. So there was nothing left for her to regret and she also decided to give up her immortality and join the woman she loved.

It was a long and silent procession when the dullahan left the woods and their friends behind. But we all know that this was not the last we would ever hear from them.
