
But before they would find rest they had to endure the open plains with its hard winds,...

...the heat of its fiery sun,....

...and the bitter cold of its lonely nights.

Soon hills became mountains and they surrounded them at both sides.

The roads mounted and the snow became thicker, the temperatures lower. Limbs froze and soon everybody was longing for the plains again.

But there was no way back, and they all knew it. They were the banished ones.

After days and days in the icy colds of the mountains, they descended.

The landscape turned into icy fields and lakes they had to cross....watching out for cracks and wet places under the snow.

In the end the ice made way for the fiery lands, and all knew that their hardships would come to an end.

Or at least their wanderings would.

One morning the last climb had been conquered. Male and female dullahan sat down after weeks of hardships.

But it was Vaelorin who said the final liberating words: "Here is where it stops. Here we will build our new home."
